The project focuses on promoting garment longevity through repair, using NN07 as a case study. The aim is to address overconsumption by encouraging customers to repair, refurbish, and upcycle their clothes rather than discarding them. This initiative aligns with NN07’s commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability.
The project explores how repair can become a core strategy for extending the lifespan of garments, reducing waste, and fostering a deeper connection between the brand and its customers. We introduce the concept of a "Recare" system, a community-driven approach that encourages customers to repair their damaged garments by offering tools, tutorials, and workshops through NN07s platforms. The system includes a Recare Book—both physical and digital—which provides step-by-step repair techniques at three difficulty levels (basic, intermediate, and advanced) to suit different needs and garment types.
Through this approach, the project aims to inspire more conscious consumption, turning repair into a sustainable, ethical practice that enhances the emotional value of clothing. By empowering customers to take part in the repair process, NN07 can strengthen customer loyalty, reduce return rates, and contribute to the circular economy.
We created "Recare", a community page on NN07's website where users can explore various repair techniques and share their own projects to inspire others. For those who prefer not to handle repairs themselves, there's a form to help guide users to the nearest NN07 store or collaborator for a drop-off service to complete the repair. This initiative fosters creativity and sustainability within the NN07 community.
Repair was identified as a key approach to extending the life of garments, fostering a deeper sense of ownership among consumers, and adding value to the brand. Over sixty samples were created to experiment with visible mending techniques that align with NN07’s aesthetics and values. These samples were categorized into three levels of complexity, ranging from minor repairs to full customizations, catering to the diverse needs of NN07's core customer base.
