For this project, I repurposed discarded materials by creating a jacket and skirt inspired by an 1880s Greenlandic hunting anorak made from seal gut, which I saw at the National Museum in Copenhagen. Drawing from this heritage, I reinterpreted the design using airbags—what I call the "gut of a car."
Working with limited, industrial materials like airbags posed unique challenges. I reimagined them into a durable patchwork design, focusing on functionality and movement through ergonomic pleats and drawstrings. This process taught me to experiment with material manipulation, laser cutting, and intricate stitching techniques. Additionally, I gained experience in tech pack creation using Adobe Illustrator and analog pattern construction, culminating in a modern, sustainable outfit.
